Slashdot has a nice item on an attempt to reproduce the work of Kyte-Photographer George Lawrence. In 1906, after the San Francisco quake, Lawrence used a rig of kites to fly a 46lb panoramic camera over the devastated area to record the destruction. He did that same thing three years later to show the success of the rebuilding process. You can find out more about Lawrence’s work and view his amazing images at activetectonics.asu.edu and robroy.dyndns.info. The guys attempting to reproduce his work in 2006 had to cheat a little and used a helicopter because, they had to get an authentic replica of Lawrence’s camera to the same vantage point as the 1906 shots in modern-day San Fancisco. The final result is stunning and makes for fascinating comparison to Lawrence’s 1906 images.

Inventables Concept Studio have developed this design to save us all from scraping the black icing from our bread in the morning. Its not actually functional yet but I think the idea is cute. I just hope they can scale it up for tanning salons

We have an SMS service where I live that you can send any question you want to and they will send you back an answer. The service is called “Ask Jimmy”. I’m sure I’m not the first to do this but today I asked Jimmy “Is there a God?”.
Jimmy Answered:
“Jimmy knows that no one can prove the existence of God but Jimmy thinks that if you believe in a God then it is real enough! Melbourne 28deg, possible thunder.”
Cant help but think that the thunder was supposed to warn me off in some way [Smite!].
